Add a star anise and daikon to a pot of boiling water, boil for 5 min and set aside.
Heat the wok with oil, add beef briskets and pan-fry until golden. Add ginger slices, shallots, minced garlic, remaining star anise, bay leaves and Chinese black cardamom, stir fry until fragrant. Add seasonings and bring to boil, simmer until beef briskets are tender.
Add daikon to the beef. After bringing to a boil, reduce to simmer until the daikon is tender and serve.
Tips: Cooking time differs according to the beef’s origin, shape and size.
